I am an Edinburgh-based certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner and HypnoBirthing mum of two.
When I was pregnant with my first child I decided to take HypnoBirthing classes as I was so nervous about labour and birth. I felt I had a low pain threshold and believed all the horror stories that people seemed so keen to pass on.
The classes were brilliant at helping me to understand both the process of labour and how being relaxed (basically ‘keeping the heid’!) could transform the experience.
My husband was the biggest sceptic but was open to coming to the sessions in order to support me. In fact he found HypnoBirthing to be a very empowering experience for him too. And he was a brilliant birth partner – by practising lots and using the techniques it really felt like we were a team during the births.
I got so much out of this that I decided to train as a Practitioner to help others have a similarly positive experience. I love teaching the sessions and seeing the positive effect it has on couples and families. It’s a real privilege.
